JJ Tech
holds USA and selected foreign country patents on its line
of Jet Pumps and accessories. This pump was developed to produce
large volumes of sub-surface formation fluids with inclusions
of moderate to high solid content. The unique patented design
allows easy retrieval of the pump from deviated and horizontal
wells. Retrieval of the pump from the hole for replacement
of the nozzle or expansion tube is done by manipulation of
the surface valves and reverse circulation of fluid with the
existing production equipment (plunger pump, surface SP).
No wire line, pulling unit or work over rig is required.
These
features combined with the larger flow area, direct fluid
flow path, and high production volumes give JJ Tech's Jet
Pump a marked advantage over existing jet pump designs and
artificial lifts. The small size of the portions of the pump
retrieved (referred to as “the carrier” and measuring
6.5 inches and 8.5 inches in length) makes it very attractive
to clients with highly deviated or horizontal wells that require
artificial lift both on land and offshore.
In our
industry, downtime means lost production. With the ease of
servicing the hydraulic jet pump, you can literally cut your
downtime by 2/3 when comparing hydraulic lifting to mechanical
lift, PCP, ESP, and gas lift. For all the previous methods
of AL, a work-over rig is needed to pull the equipment out
of the well before servicing the down hole equipment.
With no
moving parts in the bottom hole assembly, the jet pump is
simply circulated out, or fished in worst case scenario, to
service and replace parts. The power fluid injection unit
(PD pump, Ultra-Flo or SPS) contains all the moving parts
in the system. Therefore, all maintenance can be taken care
of at the surface rather than thousands of feet underground.
Ultra-Flo
Units
Every jet pump needs a power fluid driver on the surface.
While searching for an alternate surface pump, we came across
the idea for the ULTRA-FLO unit. By utilizing this system,
jet pumping can become exponentially more efficient, down
time can be reduced and production increased when put against
beam pumping in marginal and low producing wells.
In late
February of 2005, near Gladewater, Texas, a new system to
produce oil wells was born: ULTRA - FLO. The ULTRA - FLO Production
System (US patent #7,255,175 B2) combines a highly efficient
patented down hole jet pump with a surface mounted diaphragm
pump. The diaphragm pump, power plant, electric control panel
and all valves, hoses, flow meters and controls are mounted
on one compact 4 feet wide by 6 feet long skid.
The absence
of sucker rods in the ULTRA - FLO System diminishes maintenance
and wear on the production tubing and sucker rods, thereby
avoiding costly shut downs for remedial action and the resulting
loss of production. In the rare instance that the down hole
pump needs to be retrieved, it can be circulated to the surface
by reversing the flow from the tubing to the casing annulus.
Retrieval of a down hole jet pump from a Woodbine formation
well (3500 ft), inspecting the parts, and reinstalling the
pump carrier takes less than one hour.
